Nearly each week of the school year your child will have 2-3 homework assignments in the subjects of math, reading, and spelling. Though the content of the assignments will vary, the frequency and mode of accomplishment are consistent. In the event of a shortened week or a diagnostic week, the assignments will be abbreviated which you will note in the weekly newsletter.
Math: Students are encouraged to logon to reflexmath.com and earn a Greenlight three days a week (weekends are fine, too). If your student does not have access to a computer at home, see the front office and a laptop will be provided.
Spelling: Students will be given a Tic-Tac-Toe sheet at the beginning of the quarter. Each week, three activities (in a row) from the board should be completed by the student and initialed by a parent or guardian. Completed boards are due at the end of the week. A link below will take you to the TTT board if your student forgets, misplaces, or makes a mess of the one in his/her homework folder. The sheet will remain in a sheet protector and your child may use a dry erase marker to mark each activity completed. If you don't have a printer to replace a messy copy, at least you can read the assignments here and request another copy be sent home. :)
Reading: Each week, your child will check out two books from the media center. These will come home in their bookbag. Students are expected to read for about 20 minutes each night M-Th (80 minutes a week), take a 3-10 question AR quiz (Accelerated Reader is called Renaissance in their classlink) on at least one book they read during the week. The assigned books should be in your child's bookbag each day.
